Dr. Akkan Suver, who was appointed to the Honorary Consul General of Montenegro on May 26, 2008, is the President of Turkey's most prestigious NGO, the Marmara Group Foundation.
He founded the Eurasian Economic Summit, which is being organized continuously since 1998. In 2017, Dr. Suver organized and led the 20th Eurasian Economic Summit.
He was honored with the Honorary Causa Doctorate from Azerbaijan University in 2001, the Honorary Causa Professorship from Kyrgyzstan Bishkek University in 2010 and the Honorary Doctorate from Romania Constanza Maritime University in 2013.
In November 2017, Dr. Suver was presented with the "Strategic Partner of the Year 2017" award by Vienna Economic Forum in Austria for his great contribution to the regional common understanding, his works in the intercultural dialogue area and cooperation through long years.
Dr. Akkan Suver is a member of the Academic Committee of Istinye University and a well-known journalist and writer in Turkey. His books have been published in Turkish as well as in English, Montenegrin and Azerbaijani. He is currently writing for the Gözlem Newspaper in Izmir.
