尊敬的各位领导，各位嘉宾、女士们，先生们，朋友们，很高兴受邀参加这样高水平的智库合作：“一带一路”论坛。

Dear esteemed leaders, distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen, and dear friends, it is my pleasure to be invited to participate in such a prestigious think-tank collaboration: the Belt and Road Forum.

我来自中国人民大学，所以我想基于中国人民大学的这十年来与一带一路相伴而行的事件来谈一个这样的主题，即青年交往在培育“一带一路”发展当中的作用和意义。

I come from Renmin University of China, and thus, I would like to delve into a topic that resonates with the decade-long journey of Renmin University alongside the Belt and Road Initiative. Specifically, I wish to explore the role and significance of youth engagement in fostering the development of the Belt and Road.

青年作为国家的未来，世界的希望，始终推动着国家、民族与整个世界的发展。在今天这样一个技术高度发达的时代，实际上许多的技术、许多最新的科技的成果是由青年主导的。青年已经成为未来技术的主导者。因为青年对世界的决定性的作用随着整个世界的发展和变化将更加凸显，所以青年之间的融合和交流对人类的今天和未来具有无限的很大的决定性的意义。

As the torchbearers of our nation's future and the beacon of hope for the world, the youth perpetually propel the development of our nation, our people, and the entire world. Nowadays, in an era of highly advanced technology, it is noteworthy that many cutting-edge technologies and achievements are spearheaded by the youth. They have emerged as the vanguards of future technologies. As the world continues to evolve and progress, the decisive role of the youth in shaping our global landscape will become even more prominent. Therefore, the fusion and exchanges among the youth hold immense significance, with far-reaching implications for the present and future of humankind.

所以今年是“一带一路”倡议提出的十周年，那么10年来共建“一带一路”，从理念转化为行动，从愿景转化为现实，为青年的交流提供了很好的舞台。

Hence, as we commemorate the tenth anniversary of the Belt and Road initiative, it is crucial to acknowledge that over the past decade, the collaborative efforts to build the Belt and Road, by transforming mere ideology into tangible actions and visionary aspirations into concrete realities, have provided an exceptional platform for youth exchanges and interactions.

那么在这个过程当中，也有很多的青年参与到“一带一路”的建设当中去，所以青年不仅是“一带一路”的见证者、受益者，也是“一带一路”的传播者和推动者，他们之间的相互的交流、联系、沟通，共同推进了文明的交流互鉴和国与国之间的合作与相互学习，为共同来构建人类命共同体贡献了青年的力量。

Throughout this process, numerous young people have actively participated in the construction of the Belt and Road. Thus, the youth are not merely witnesses and beneficiaries of the Belt and Road, but also its ambassadors and driving forces. Their mutual exchanges, connections, and communications have advanced cultural exchange, mutual learning, and cooperation among nations. The power of the youth has contributed to the collective endeavor of building a community with a shared future for humanity.

中国人民大学是中国共产党创办的第一所新中国的正规的大学，它始终坚守着为国育才、为人类服务的这样的初心使命。所以“一带一路”倡议提出后，中国人民大学很快就积极地响应。在2018年我们就建了丝路学院。

Renmin University of China, founded by the Communist Party of China, holds the distinction of being the first formal university established in the PRC. It remains steadfast in its commitment to nurturing talent for the nation and serving humanity, embodying its original mission and purpose. Therefore, in swift response to the Belt and Road Initiative, Renmin University of China proactively took action. In 2018, we established the Silk Road School, demonstrating our commitment to this monumental endeavor.

2018年以来，5年了，我们这个丝路学院共招收来自巴基斯坦、俄罗斯、印度尼西亚等62个国家200名优秀学生。在这个过程当中，我们跟来自“一带一路”国家的学生共同来探索、培养能够服务“一带一路”，能够推动未来世界发展的新型的国际性人才。

Since 2018, over the course of five years, our Silk Road School has successfully enrolled 200 outstanding students from 62 countries, including Pakistan, Russia, Indonesia, and many others. Throughout this journey, we have collaborated with students from Belt and Road countries to explore and cultivate a new breed of international talents who are equipped to serve the Belt and Road initiative and drive the future development of the world.

在这个过程当中，我们牢记习近平总书记提出的“国之交在于民相亲”，而“民相亲”要从青年做起的一个教导，我们努力把这样的一个实践落实于推动“一带一路”国家青年之间的交往。在这个实践的过程当中，我们有这样几点认识。

Over the course of this, we firmly hold onto the guidance provided by General Secretary Xi Jinping, who emphasized that the key to state-to-state relations lies in close bonds between peoples, and that efforts to this end must start from the youth. With this in mind, we strove to implement this principle by facilitating interactions among youth from Belt and Road countries. Throughout this practical endeavor, we have gained several key insights.

第一个，大学是文明的基石，也是“一带一路”发展的关键承载。那么现代大学既是孕育文明、传承文明、交流文明的园地，也是探究历史、解读社会、剖析时代的先锋，更是贯通认知、沟通差异、汇聚理念的平台。

Firstly, universities serve as the bedrock of civilization and are crucial in carrying forward the development of the Belt and Road initiative. Modern universities not only nurture and inherit civilizations, but also serve as a platform for cultural exchange. They are pioneers in exploring history, interpreting society, and analyzing the present era. Additionally, universities act as a platform for bridging cognitive gaps, facilitating communication across differences, and converging diverse ideas.

育人是大学的首要任务，而人是“一带一路”的纽带，最为坚韧的一个环节。所以大学应该以广博的胸襟、无垠的视野、崇高的情怀引导青年面向世界、面向未来，关注人类的今天和明天，投身到共同推动全球发展和人类命运共同体的建设当中。

The nurturing of individuals is the primary mission of universities, and it is through individuals that the Belt and Road finds its strongest link. Therefore, universities should guide the youth with broad-mindedness, boundless vision, and lofty aspirations, encouraging them to face the world and the future. Universities should inspire them to focus on the present and future of humanity, and actively engage in the collective endeavor of promoting global development and building a community with a shared future for humankind.

为此我们在培养“一带一路”的学生过程当中，我们就把课堂的学习跟“一带一路”的实地考察联系在一起。我们组织学生探索河西走廊的丝路文化、河南中原的黄河文化，扬州的运河文化，到法国来开展当年欧洲共产主义思想之旅，寻访马克思的足迹，

In order to cultivate students who are from the Belt and Road countries, we have integrated classroom learning with field trips related to the Belt and Road Initiative. We organized students to explore the Silk Road culture in the Hexi Corridor, the Yellow River culture in Henan, and the Grand Canal culture in Yangzhou. Furthermore, we planned trips to France to delve into the history of European communist thought, tracing the footsteps of Karl Marx himself.

引导“一带一路”的学生以及中国的学生能够形成平等、尊重、开放、包容的全球视野，胸怀人类的前途命运，心系人类进步事业，努力实现人的自由和全面发展，推动人类文明迈向更好的明天，并把它作为自己的一个人生的信念和学业的追求。

We guided students from the Belt and Road countries, as well as Chinese students, to cultivate a global perspective rooted in equality, respect, openness, and inclusiveness. We encouraged them to embrace the future and destiny of humanity, to be concerned with the progress of mankind, and to strive for the realization of individual freedom and comprehensive development. Together, we aim to propel human civilization towards a better tomorrow, making it an unwavering belief and pursuit in their personal lives and academic endeavors.

第二个，我们认为青年是全球的未来，也是“一带一路”发展的进步力量。任何一个时代、任何一个社会、任何一个国家，青年都是社会中最具有生机活力的力量，也最具有创造性，敢为天下先的主体。

Secondly, we firmly believe that the youth are the future of the world and the driving force behind the progress of the Belt and Road Initiative. In any time, in any society, or in any country, the youth represent the most vibrant and dynamic force. They possess immense creativity and the courage to be pioneers, shaping the world with their innovative ideas and actions.

因此，习近平总书记指出，世界的未来属于年轻一代，青春的伟力，不仅可以来消除隔阂、打破偏见，拉近人与人的距离，也能够成为推动“一带一路”建设和高质量发展的原动力。因此，国际社会期待我们今天的青年以及未来的青年能够担负起为人类的和平发展贡献其理想、贡献其力量和智慧。

Hence, as emphasized by General Secretary Xi Jinping, the future of the world belongs to the younger generation. The tremendous power of youth not only has the potential to bridge gaps, break prejudices, and bring people closer together, but also serves as the driving force behind the construction and high-quality development of the Belt and Road initiative. Therefore, the international community expects today's and future generations of youth to shoulder the responsibility of contributing their ideals, strength, and wisdom to the peaceful development of humanity.

所以我们在这个过程当中，我们对中国的学生也好，对“一带一路”国家的学生也好，我们都强烈地要求培养他们了解中国，同时也通晓国际，具有全球的视野和跨文化的交流能力，教育他们树立为人类和平发展贡献智慧和力量的远大志向。

Therefore, in this process, we strongly emphasized the importance of cultivating an understanding of China among Chinese students as well as students from Belt and Road countries. Simultaneously, we strove to equip them with a global perspective and cross-cultural communication skills. We educated them to develop lofty aspirations to contribute wisdom and strength to the peaceful development of humanity.

从我们丝路学院毕业的学生现在有担任联合国粮农组织的顾问、巴基斯坦总理办公室的投资委员会的副主任、泰国审计署外交关系官员等等，他们都走到了国际的舞台，走到了国际交流的前沿。

Indeed, graduates from our Silk Road School have achieved remarkable accomplishments on the international stage. They have assumed roles such as advisors to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, Deputy Directors of the Investment Committee at the Prime Minister's Office in Pakistan, and diplomatic officers in the Thailand Auditor General's Office. These achievements reflect their ability to excel in international exchanges and showcase the impact of their education in our school.

所以他们带着从中国“一带一路”学院当中所学到的知识和智慧，走向五大洲，在本国的政治、经济、文化、教育等领域发挥着重要作用，也就成为了推进“一带一路”建设、推进全球治理、全球发展、全球安全的新生力量和积极践行者。

Thus, armed with the knowledge and wisdom acquired from the Silk Road School in China, these graduates have ventured to all corners of the globe. They play significant roles in their respective countries' political, economic, cultural, and educational domains. They have become the driving force and active practitioners in advancing the Belt and Road initiative, global governance, development, and security. Their contributions mark them as the emerging forces shaping the future and actively promoting a more interconnected world.

我们的第三点感受就是，交流是活力的源泉，也是“一带一路”发展的必由之路。交流互鉴是文明发展的本质。习近平总书记深刻指出，在全球化的时代，开放融通是不可阻挡的历史趋势。

Our third point is that the wellspring of vitality and an indispensable path for the development of the Belt and Road initiative lies in communication. Exchange and mutual learning are at the core of cultural development. General Secretary Xi Jinping astutely points out that in the era of globalization, openness and connectivity are unstoppable historical trends.

那么，要实现“一带一路”的高质量发展，高等教育必须主动选择开放包容，必须坚持不同文明兼容并蓄、交流互鉴，深化国际合作交流特别是学生交流是夯实“一带一路”、建设民心相通的基础。

To achieve high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative, higher education must proactively embrace openness and inclusiveness. It must adhere to the principle of accommodating and embracing different civilizations, promoting exchange and mutual learning. Deepening international cooperation and communication, particularly student exchange programs, is crucial in solidifying the foundation of the Belt and Road initiative and fostering people-to-people connectivity.

所以，中国人民大学不论在学生的培养、科学的研究以及国际交流方面，我们始终秉承着开放的态度。我们希始终希望有世界各国的学者到中国人民大学来做研究、来任教，同时来进行国际合作与交流，在这方面我们开放的步伐会越来越大，我们不仅在我们自己的校区，而且我们在所有的研究中心以及我们在国内的所有研究机构都是面向全球开放来推进的。这也是为“一带一路”的建设提供一个大学所应该承载的平台，所应该担负的使命。

Indeed, Renmin University of China upholds an open attitude in all aspects of student cultivation, scientific research, and international exchanges. We always welcome scholars from around the world to come to Renmin University of China to engage in research and teaching, as well as to participate in international cooperation and exchanges. In this regard, our commitment to openness will continue to grow. Not only is our campus open to international scholars, but all our research centers and institutions across the country are also open to the world. This serves as a platform that a university should provide, and a mission it should undertake, in contributing to the construction of the Belt and Road initiative.

基于上面三点认识，我们认为全球的青年，我们今天全球的青年是人类的未来，是和平与发展的最大希望。大学应该承载起推动青年沟通，让青年构建全球意识、人类情怀与和平发展理念。所以对我们来说，“一带一路”建设犹如一扇机遇之门，为青年搭建起梦想和友谊的桥梁。

Based on the three above-mentioned points, we firmly believe that today's global youth are the future of humanity and the greatest hope for peace and development. Universities should take on the responsibility of promoting youth communication and enabling young people to build global awareness, a sense of humanity, and a vision for peaceful development. For us, the Belt and Road initiative is like a gateway of opportunities, providing a bridge for youth to pursue their dreams and foster friendships.

高质量共建“一带一路”呼唤了青春的力量，同时也为我们深化青年的交流，提升大学在培养新一代青年的能力提供一个很好的机遇。

The high-quality construction of the Belt and Road Initiative calls for the power of the youth, presenting us with a great opportunity to deepen youth exchanges and enhance universities' capacity to cultivate the next generation of young leaders.

我们将面向未来十年的发展，进一步发挥大学独特的作用，为“一带一路”各国的青年的交流，为提升中国、服务“一带一路”青年的培养和教育作出我们新的贡献。谢谢大家。
